The nights can feel incredibly long when you have a newborn.

The sun goes down, everyone else is asleep, and suddenly it's just you and this tiny human who wants to feed again… and again… and maybe refuses to be put down. You're exhausted, emotional, and wondering if you'll ever get a full stretch of sleep again.

This is exactly where overnight postpartum support comes in.

So, what does an overnight postpartum doula do?

Think of me as your postpartum bestie who shows up while the rest of the world is sleeping.

Every family is different, so overnight support looks a little different in every home. My role is to support you in a way that helps you get the rest, recovery, and confidence you need.

Depending on your feeding preferences and your family's needs, overnight support may include:

  • Bringing baby to you for feeds and settling them back to sleep afterwards

  • Bottle feeding expressed breast milk or formula if that's your preference

  • Burping, changing nappies, and resettling baby

  • Supporting you with breastfeeding and answering questions as they come up

  • Helping you find comfortable feeding and recovery positions

  • Providing emotional support and reassurance during those vulnerable early weeks

  • Preparing water, snacks, or a quick bite to eat during feeds

  • Washing bottles and pump parts

  • Light baby-related tasks so you wake up to a calmer environment

But mostly… I look after you.

Because postpartum isn't just about caring for the baby. It's about caring for the person who gave birth. Overnight support means you don't have to listen out for every little noise. You don't have to be the one doing every nappy change. You don't have to feel like you're on duty all night long. Instead, you can sleep knowing someone experienced is there.

You can rest. You can recover. You can simply be held and supported during one of the biggest transitions of your life.

Who is overnight support for?

Honestly? Pretty much anyone.

Families often book overnight support if they:

  • Want more sleep and rest

  • Are single parents

  • Are recovering from a caesarean or difficult birth

  • Have a partner returning to work

  • Have older children to care for during the day

  • Are navigating feeding challenges

  • Have limited family support nearby

  • Simply want someone in their corner during those early weeks

You don't need to be struggling to deserve support.

Sometimes having someone there overnight means you can enjoy your newborn bubble a little more because you're not running on empty.

Imagine this…

You wake for a feed. Baby is already changed and settled in your arms. You feed your little one, have a drink of water and a snack waiting beside you, hand baby back when you're done, and drift back to sleep knowing everything else is taken care of.

That's what overnight postpartum support can look like.

Not someone taking over.

Someone holding you while you find your feet.

Because you were never meant to do postpartum alone.
